First Day/Week of Work, Winter Weather and More

Well last Tuesday was my first day at Principal - also the coldest day so far this winter and our first real snow storm of any amount.  I'm so lucky aren't I :)  I gave myself some extra time to drive in case the roads were bad - which they really weren't - just the people driving were bad.  And I couldn't believe how many people were already on the freeway at 6:45 a.m.  I'll admit at one time I realized I was in my own lane (no one could see any lane markers).

After two hours with Human Resources for orientation we were released to our department.  Debbie, who is one of the managers and interviewed me, and Julie, the other manager, came to get Christi and me.  I about died - I knew Julie and she remembered me back from Non-Med days!  That goes back to 1997-1998!  And she is my manager instead of Debbie.  Christi and I spent the day getting logged onto our computers, getting into software programs and taking computer classes - so a pretty easy day.

Actually Wed and Thurs were pretty easy too since we had been "built" into the system incorrectly and by the time Julie (who is also the manager of our whole department) found this out, the system had been taken down until Sunday.....  So we figured no training until Monday (today).  Luckily they got something done Thursday so we started our training Friday.

We could determine where we wanted to park - for FREE.  I didn't want to stay in the flat lot so was able to get in the Park and Ride ramp and on the waiting list for the ramp that is right across the street from my building.  I'm only 496 out of 500 on the waiting list :)  I have about a half block to walk before I can get into the parking ramp then take the skywalk into my building.  Wednesday it was kind of cold out so I wondered if I could slip in the ramp where the cars enter the ramp instead of walking a little ways down the sidewalk to go in the actual door - nope.  The little guard guy caught me, motioned me over to his booth, whipped open his window and very nicely told me I had to enter the ramp through the door.  I found out Thursday that I have to swipe my ID to open that door - which is kind of weird since I have to swipe my badge to get into the building, oh well.

We get to wear jeans all January and I tried another store to find jeans - this store actually sells jeans by length.  I found jeans that were long enough but they are low, low, low riders.  I thought I had low riders with my pair from WalMart but those are mid-rise and now to me, those are pretty high on my non-waist.  I bought two pairs at Delia's at Jordan Creek (by one get second half price) and will try to deal with the low rise.

Saturday I thought I could sleep in a little because I had been getting up before 5:00 - oh no - Butler had gotten used to getting up early and had to get up early Saturday.  I'm like "really?"  So I let him out and went back to bed.  I wasn't sure if I was getting a cold or not so I stayed in Saturday cuddling on the bed with Butler and reading.

This morning we had gotten maybe one inch of snow and when I got on the freeway they were going about 45 mph - holy cow.  We may not have wanted to go 60 but we could go at least 50-55 people.

I came home to a lovely thing.  Butler was on the couch - I've basically been taking his legs out from under him when I leave in the morning so he's stuck on the couch all day - and he normally poops.  Well his poop was liquid - blick.  I got him up and to the kitchen to try to go down the steps to head out the enclosed porch to the backyard.  Well, I've heard of projectile vomiting with babies but I experienced projectile crapping - all over my jeans and black boots I'd worn to work.  I got Butler outside and before he could come back in I took baby wipes to try to clean him up.  Poor guy - his tail was so full of crap it kind of wrung out of it.  Got him inside and back in the kitchen and guess what?!  Projectile crap again.  I'm like really?!  I'm like, I need to put a diaper on him but I don't have one - what to do.  Aha - I have puppy piddle pads, I'll cut a hole in one for his tail and duct tape it to him like a diaper.  So as I try to put the "diaper" on him Butler decided RIGHT THEN is when he HAD to go upstairs.  I had to drag/carry him back to the kitchen where the duct tape was to tape the "diaper" to him.  Poor guy - he still smells somewhat livestocky......  I hope he's not real sick, or starting his last days and tomorrow he'll be his normal self.
