Got a great phone call yesterday - from Casey (my middle one). He was back on US soil and had been for about 30 minutes after spending a year deployed in Afghanistan! Casey is an Army lifer with his 23rd anniversary this coming June.
This past week Christi and I were back to training to learn STD and there is a lot to learn. We have to occ code (occupational code) each job title if a group wants STD and that is interesting. We also have to see if we need to Bonus Up a quote or not. Friday afternoon we started to work our review/graded quotes before moving to LTD which is the last coverage we need to learn. I got one review quote completed and my grade back while working my second quote.....wait for it....wait for it. 100%! I was so happy because what a way to end the week and I now had 13 of my 15 97+% to be released from some things after training.
This past week was my manager's birthday and if we wanted to pay $1.00 to wear jeans - which is the normal "bargain" to wear jeans on Thursday - we could wear jeans all week. And her boss decided we could wear jeans this coming week because of it being Spring Break - love it.
Tuesday we had a department lunch/meeting with sub sandwiches provided. My manager's boss was at the meeting and she was helping explain how the "defect free" portion of measuring our productivity was going bye-bye - it has been an unrealistic goal for years but other bosses above my manager didn't care. Jenifer - Julie's boss - happened to sit by me and as Jenifer was explaining that even airline pilots weren't defect free, she looked at me. I'm like, "am I suppose to respond, should I respond?" So I respond - surprise. I said, "well I hope all my airline pilots are defect free" to which Jenifer and the team got a good chuckle.
Thursday we celebrated St. Patty's day by making stone soup for lunch. We signed up to bring different ingredients (corn, peas, etc.) to toss into the pan for the soup - and it was awesome!
Thursday I headed to Toyota after work to talk about my next leased Corolla. I'm six months away from the end of my lease and sometimes Toyota selects people to let out of their leases early - and I was one to be let out early. So the search for a 2012 Corolla Sport with stick and moonroof was on. Friday my Toyota gal called me and said they found one - it wasn't manufactured yet - but they ordered it and it would be at least a month. Ok with me.
While the weather has been beautiful - some days in the 80's - it has been warm upstairs when I get home from work. I think the warmest day was 86. I'm too stubborn and cheap to turn the A.C. on yet so I open windows and have the floor fan on high to help cool it off before Butler and I go to bed.
